This week's feature will be The Blind Side, a touching sports drama based on the book by Michael Lewis.

The show starts at 8pm and runs until approximately 9:30pm.

Veteran's Day BBQ

Are you a veteran or know someone who has served in the United States Armed Forces? If so, the City of Hollywood will host the second annual Veterans Day Barbecue on Sunday, November 11, 2012 at T.Y. Park, Corporate Pavilion # 12, 3300 N. Park Rd, Hollywood from noon to 4 p.m. to honor men and women who serve or have served in the United States Armed Forces. Mayor Peter Bober and member of the Hollywood City Commission will join with volunteers to serve a free barbecue lunch to attendees.

All Hollywood-area veterans are welcome. The event will feature free hamburgers, hot dogs, grilled chicken sandwiches, salads, and beverages and ice cream donated by Jaxson’s Ice Cream Parlor. Activities include a performance by the Florida National Guard’s 13th Army Band, a world map for veterans to show where they served, an inflatable obstacle course sponsored by Landmark Funeral Home, games and potato sack races. Veterans who attend can exchange their park entry ticket for a raffle ticket for a drawing of a $100 gift certificate to GG’s Waterfront Bar and Grill in Hollywood.

Event capacity is 500 people. Park admission is $1.50. Children 5 and under are admitted into the park free of charge.

Fantastic Fourth!

HOLLYWOOD'S HOMETOWN FOURTH OF JULYHollywood Beach

There's no better way to celebrate our nation's 236th birthday than on Hollywood Beach at the annual 4th of July Celebration on Hollywood Beach. Sponsored by the City of Hollywood Department of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Arts and the Hollywood Community Redevelopment Agency-Beach District, this annual event features entertainment throughout the day and evening, highlighted by a dazzling offshore fireworks display at 9 p.m.

The afternoon is packed with entertainment. From 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., children's fun and games with DJ Chulo will entertain the crowd at the oceanfront Charnow Park, located at Garfield Street and the Hollywood Beach Broadwalk in the Broadwalk Fun Zone. From 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., there will be arts and crafts off Buchanan and New York streets. From 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., the Hollywood Beach Theatre at Johnson Street will feature a live music performance by Pocket Change, followed by the offshore fireworks display.

The Hollywood Trolley will run extended hours until 11:30pm.

Master glassblowers perform live demonstrations in the glassblowing studio every Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. Sit comfortably in the theater style viewing area and watch the glassblowers create vessels and sculptures from molten glass that is over 2,000 degrees. Expert artists use the same traditional process that has been around for centuries. There's also a gallery connected to the studio with the latest work on display and available for purchase.
