Graffiti is a type of deliberate marking on property, both private and public. It can take the form of pictures, drawings, words, or any decorations inscribed on any surface usually outside walls and sidewalks. When done without the property owner's consent, it constitutes illegal vandalism.
Graffiti began in the late 1960s and has included the type of vandalism known as "tagging", which is commonly seen in urban areas as names hastily sprayed on the walls, works of art, and battles between local artists, such as the one shown below.
This form of art has evolved by using spray paint as the medium and several pieces are currently on display in our hotel through the smART project. We hope you'll stop in and appreciate the art form and the artists who have supplied them.
